Things to do:
- ...
Good idea,
But I'm thinking you might want to wait till NVDA itself is more stable.
From the site
"NVDA is still very much in development. It may contain bugs and not be as stable as other commercial screen readers. However, even though it may not work correctly in every situation, people are reporting that NVDA works well for basic computing tasks, and definitly has the potential to grow in to something as usable as the commercial screen readers"
and it looks like the are moving toward 0.6 already
"Tue, 11 Mar 2008 22:56 UTC by James Teh
We have just released NVDA 0.6p1. This is a preview release, meaning that there are still major issues to be fixed before the final 0.6 release."
I could see there being problems with your Development Test and confusion over whether the problem is related to your version or the original based on minor differences in the machines of the testers [sound cards, video cards, etc]
Perhaps waiting for a more stable release like 1.0 ?
Just my thought, don't want to discourage you
It could be a great learn experience.
It could also be very frustrating.
Good Luck
Tim
Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
In app\appinfo folder in appinfo.ini you need to add in a few things.
such as
Also in your help.html file you need to change the title to PNVDA Portable, and change a few other things in there to match your program.
Oh yeah one more thing the folder that is extracted from the .paf installer is called NVDAPortable it should be "PNVDAPortable", to match the launcher.

well actually everything should be NVDA Portable, not PNVDA; i don't know why he named it like that.
your absolutely correct, y did he do that.
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
Mahatma Gandhi,
Indian political and spiritual leader (1869 - 1948)
i'll fix those things.
I called it PNVDA because NVDA already has a NVDA portable, and I want people to be able to tell the difference. Unless anyone has a better name suggestion...
Wow, this is great, a screen reader for the blind and vision impaired. Thanks for getting this done, I'll download it ASAP and if it works, I'll let you know! I'll also let you know if there is any problems, although since NVDA isn't a propper release yet and since it has many bugs and errors, I do realise it it not your fault at all. Thanks again for bringing out a great program!

Thanks.
I'm thinking of renaming the portable version to just NVDA Portable Edition.
Just NVDA Portable is good. It's generic for all the apps here. Many of the apps already on this site already have a portable version, but we don't change the name. Most users don't know about the base app, or want an official PortableApps.com version.
NVDA Portable is good.
Okay, the name was changed.
The version wasn't, I only changed the name and a few lines in the ini file. Please post any comments.
You can set up the installer to delete the old PNVDA. Just alter the code for the "pre-install" to delete it for you.
