PIDGIN doesn't work with MSN Messenger?

Why does Pidgin Portable not work when I attempt to connect with MSN Messenger? It says that the program is not supported by the server. Yahoo and AOL work fine.

It does

for me, but I did have a problem because the default logs onto dotCom whereas I use dotUK, Maybe that's the problem?
