can not open keepass due to write protection

I installed Keepass Portable and thought everything was ok however when I reinstalled my USb Thumb drive the next time I get this message " The disk cannot be written to because it is write protected. Please remove the write protection from the volume in drive F:" The thumb drive is not write protected with the tab that is on the left hand side of the drive so I quess it's the Keepass software that is preventing it from being written to.

Also Keepass does not automatically start when I insert the usb drive. I've tried my password several times to no avail.

At this point I'd like to just reformat the drive but since it is write protected that doesn't seem possible either. Does anyone know of anyway to get around this so I can at least reformat the usb drive?
