using Portable apps as Default-Apps for other Portable apps

Hi,

is it possible to use a portable Application as default-Application inside another portable application?

e.g.
- sumatraPDF as (of course external) pdf-viewer used in portable Firefox
- portable Firefox as the Browser that opens urls from portable Thunderbird
- Notepad++ Portable as the default editor used in winscp-portable
- winmerge in rapidsvn portable

Only to give some use cases. Is there already a way, to do this complete or partly? If not, is anyone else interested in such things, and would it be worth some effort?

kind regards,
Michael

there is..

cafe mod gives You the file associations, Xenon Portable does..
there are some file association managers on this site
else firefox addon "PDF Download " works with different settings, but sometimes is overridden by system default..
just try a search on this site, there are extensive posts to the pros and cons of the different apps..
EDIT: ach so, willkommen hier und ein paar links zum Warmlesen

thank you, I think I will

thank you, I think I will get along with that quite well. especially if the applications can use relative paths...

A bit tricky is still the using of a different pdf-viewer from Firefox. But Acrobat does strange things to webbrowsers anyway Smile Maybe i will find a way...

thanks for the welcome.

pdf problems might resolve..

if you put the adobe browser plugin manually into FFP/data/plugins folder. I have acrobat 7 at home with the regular plugin put automatically into the app/firefox/plugins folder.
At work I have adobe reader 8. It crashed everytime I opened a pdf file in the browser that was linked with html "start pdf", only the direct way to pdf worked.
After taking adobe 8 browser plugin from internet explorer and putting it into the data/plugins folder the strange behaviour stopped immediately.
