[RESOLVED(Thank You)][Help]Cannot rename USB Drive

A while after I installed the portable apps suite, my USB name changed to portableapps, and I cannot rename it back, as it reverts back to "portableapps" all the time. I've read some of the previous topics, that it has to do with autorun.inf but I've had no luck. I tried changing it and even deleting the file but I still cannot rename it. Please help, as my USB name is bothering me greatly.

Reboot

If you've tried changing the name in the autorun.inf, and deleted it, then it sounds like you need to reboot for the old/changed name to appear.

how about from file manager ...

where I just changed my usb name to whatever I wanted. Did PortableApps change it to something else automatically when you install the program? I can't recall if it did. Anyways, yeah, I just changed the name of my usb key many moons ago by right-clicking on it and renaming it what I wanted.

here is what you do

in the autorun.inf put the following:

[Autorun]
Open=PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu\PortableAppsMenu.exe
Action=Start PortableApps
Icon=Whateveryouwant.ico
Label=What you want your usb to be called

or if you just want default removable drive just leave Label blank

almost forgot.

if you want your changes to show up, after you have made changes to autorun.inf, safely remove your usb then plug it back in and you should see the changes.

!

Whateveryouwant.ico can also be a binary: Whaterveryouwant.exe or Whateveryouwant.dll, etc.

but with dll you would have

but with dll you would have to specify a number (I think)

Same

With an executable. However, if it is the first icon in the exe, there's no need to, and it may be the same with dlls.

Thx

Thank you everyone, I tried rebooting then removing and and putting it back, and it changed. I am rather grateful for this very helpful community.
