Just upgraded to Portable v2.0.0.12 and have run into some sort of problem. At the bottom of the message pane there is a bar about 1 1/2" wide running horizontally above the task bar which appears to be displaying code such as:
menu id = "offlinemenuitem" insertafter = "trashmenuseparator"
It goes on like this and even after I tried a different skin, it was still there.
Any clues?
This is a problem with Chrome, or at least it was when I had exactly the same problem last week. This is a known issue in Thunderbird (not just Portable version. It's explained in the Mozilla FAQ's. I got to it by using Help within Thunderbird. Good luck. BTW it doesn't seem to be a problem in 2.0.0.14, so it might be worth trying an update first.
I found the answer in the second topic posted in this forum just below my query. It was suggested that if you deleted:
"ThunderbirdPortable\App\thunderbird\chrome\offline.manifest" it would take care of the problem. It did and I want to thank everyone for their input
Could you please delete your duplicate of this topic:

Just go to the topic, go to the edit tab, scroll down and select delete.
Thanks,

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
Sorry about that Tim. I'm new to the forum and wasn't sure where to post.
Just didn't want you getting responses to both posts and having to keep track between the two. Thanks for getting rid of the other one

First let me thank all of you for your input. In that light I'd like to pose another question.
Would the problem that I'm having with the gray bar have anything to do with the fact that I have no vertical or horizontal scroll bars? I've tried a different skin and that didn't seem to make any difference.
Appreciate any input you might be able to provide.
Your mileage may vary, of course, but when I deleted the manifest file, that fixed both probs. I'm a happy camper. Thanks all!!!
