wrong....But I think it's intended to be there. It's written into the .ini file that appears with the PortableApps folder, the Documents folder and the PortableApp.exe file in the root of your usb device. I can't tell you how, but maybe someone here can tell you how to change the .ini file to undo it.
start by enabling the "Show hidden files and folders option". to do this, go to your controll panel in windows, then "Folder Options" then scroll down the meny until you see a radiobox that says "Show hidden files and folders" and click it and apply. after that, brows in the root directory of your drive, I.e. just hit explore in the PAM. then search for a file called "Autorun.inf" and double click it, it should open in notepad. change
@John
I'm thinking it would be better just to delete the Label= line. Most users (quite intuitively) expect to be able to rename their drive through Explorer and have the new name stick. The current way just confuses people.
Call me lazy or whatever, but this doesn't bother me. It makes it alot easier to
find the location of my PortableApp equipped flash drive. I just open My Computer and go right to the PortableApps.com icon and I'm there. No looking at drive letters to find out where my flash is located.
It's fine for users like you and I who know what we're doing. We can just unhide the autorun.inf and edit/delete it if we don't like it. But for the average user, they expect renaming their drive to stick without jumping through hoops!
No, renaming the drive changes the drive's volume label. The volume label is what Explorer normally displays unless autorun.inf contains a label, in which case the label overrides it.

Yes, I agree, there's a good amount of users that don't like this. I'd say maybe have it an option in the installer? Checked by default?

Sorry, don't know how I did this. Moderator: Delete this if you need to.

If they rename it, Windows should change the autorun.ini. Is this not the the behaviour?
If this is what happens (I'm fairly sure that it is), then we could simply check in the installer to see if an autorun.ini already exists.
