firefox 3 beta is SLOW

Hello. I installed firefox 3 beta (last version) on my PQI Cool Drive U339 Pro 2GB, that i bought 2 years ago, and man - firefox is lagging badly. Version 2.00.14 lagged a bit, but this one is something else.
Anyone knows if there's a way of speeding up firefox 3 beta, instead of buying Corsair Voyager GT?

I didn't dig to find out

I didn't dig to find out what was the cause, but I've had the same issue : particularly when using the Google search bar in the upper right corner!

I was wondering if somebody else had this...

im a heavy tab user

and I have found ff3b5 to be much faster and much less of a memory hog than ff2. in fact I installed it as a portable app as I didn't want to bork my ff2 install, but I have found that I never run ff2 anymore. I am waiting to see how ff 3 rc1 performs, hopefully the portable apps version will be out soon.

for me it lags totally, but I

for me it lags totally,
but I think the reason therefore is that my USB Stick is extremely slow when writing something. FF3 constantly updates e.g. places.sqlite and other files in the profile folder.

is there a way to cache these write operations in RAM and write it on exit?
Apart from the speed problem: too many write operations restrict the lifetime of flash rams...

I don't know...

I actually find FFP 3 to lag less than 2.

Yeah, I just installed

Yeah, I just installed FF3b5, and it FLIES! It is way faster in everything I've tried. Perhaps you have an unsupported addon? Did you "force" any addon compatibility?

Try this

Hi, I also have found bad response times with this version. I've made a couple of test following these suggestions:

http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_networking_tips1551.html

After that, still find rather tedious changing between tabs but initial start up time has reduced significantly and websites load a bit quicker.

Hope this helps
