What more can I say, PGP is

What more can I say, PGP is used to encrypt emails, files, anything. Toucan can encrypt files, but there isn't a standalone version of PGP that we can use as a base for say Mozilla Thunderbird portable, and any other of the portable apps that may require PGP at some point...

I don't read the newspapers, because they all have ugly print

Acutally, most of them use GPG

which is the opensource OpenPGP compliant encryption application.

It is completely key-compatible with PGP, so you can freely exchange emails, files, or whatever else between systems. You can even export and import your private keyrings so that you can use the same keys on each.

PGP itself is commercial software, and as such, is not currently elligible to be hosted on this site. It is also, in current versions, installed as a service on the PC, which makes it non-trivial to portablize, and would always need administrator privileges on the target PC.

If you use the search box for GPG, and also for Enigma, which is the Thunderbird addin that provides the link, you should find plenty of information on how to get it up and running.

There are also a couple of portable key management utilities (WinPT and one other) in beta on this site. Again, search should help you find them.

full functionality will be hope soon

since some people work on the implementation of GPG in such a way that not only thunderbird/enigma can use it, but also win front ends at the same time.

since caompatible, or at least it can be made compatible back to pgp263, probably no need any more to make pgp portable any more. The current versions for windows are any way huge bloatware and not opensource, so why bother.

Quote "Portable PGP is a fully featured, lightweight, java based, open source PGP tool.

It allows to encrypt, decrypt, sign and verify text and files with a nice and absolutely straight graphical interface.

It's absolutely simple to use and provides everything you need to get started with PGP cryptography."

java folder search

could perhaps someone with enough knowledge in the subject , explain the guys who produced this java-pgp what are the portable apps standards for java location and how they could point their software to look for it there?

So far the software can only look for java via registry or alternativela carry its own java in its folder which makes the whole thing kind of heavy.

www.fgravina.net

you can find them

java pgp

is nice, however we should ask the authors to allow it to search for java also in common files on our sticks. Otherwise it does either search for its own budeld java making the lot some 200mb long.
It can search for the PC java installed, but will not find our one on the stick in common files.

Otherwise tested it, and it does all operations without problems so far, better then winpt etc.
