How safe is it

Hi,

if I use portableapps is there anything saved on the host computer? What do I have to do to make sure that after unpluging nothing is left on the host computer?
thanks in advance

Depends on "Nothing"

None of the apps here leave any personal information behind. But you can still tell that things were run on the local PC. Windows keeps track of this and this affects any software you run at all. Things like the Windows prefetch (designed to help programs start faster) and the most recently used lists will leave a trail of what programs you've run.

Most of the commercial platforms claim to leave "nothing behind" but it's marketing speak (aka lies)... they leave just as much of a record of what apps you run... more, actually, since some leave multiple registry entries and even EXEs behind.

So, you're always detectable... but as long as you do it right... you don't leave any personal info behind. Make sense?

Oh, and welcome to PortableApps.com Smile

Thanks a lot

Thank you very much for your answer.
So I assume if I create a file with open office writer (portable) and safe it to the stick, no temporary files are saved on the local computer?

Correct

It's just saved to your portable device.
