Portable GIMP 2.2.10 Beta 1 Quick Test

I need a few people to test out a test version of Portable GIMP before release tomorrow. Please don't blog this or mention outside the site as there may be bugs and this may not be the final version of Portable GIMP that is released tomorrow. It uses a couple new methods I came up with just for this app. Smile

It's an English-only release (I'll be doing multilingual as well). It's an 11MB download and only 17.5MB installed.

UPDATE: IT'S BEEN RELEASED:

Trying it out

I'm currently in the process of trying it out. I'll install it onto my USB key and see how things go over the next few days. Expect a more in depth post later on.

"This application has failed to start because intl.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
Seems a dependancy is missing.

Windows version?

What version of Windows did you try it on? Was it on startup or when accessing a specific function? Is a different version of GTK installed? Or a not-completely-uninstalled version?

I've tried it on virgin Windows 98 and Windows 2000 systems without issue, so the only thing I can think of is a GTK conflict.

GTK

I'm pretty sure it's not Portable GIMP that's the problem, but GTK. I've installed GTK in the past, but have uninstalled it since then. It could be that once you install GTK, GIMP has troubles finding the correct installation PATH. I'll have to do more testing later on.

Passed Here

I tried it on 3 XP machines and had no problems. It seems to run better than the combined GTK build that I was running with NSIS and it will be easier to update.

I also double checked the environment variables to make sure that there was not any legacy from a previous install.

As you know, the installed version does create a path in EV and reg entry for the extension_scripts and does not clean them up on uninstall. I am not sure if Rob's problem was on a machine which had a previous version of The GIMP...can't see why it should, but that is the type of error message I got when the path was wrong for the GTK.

Nice! It works fine for me

Nice!

It works fine for me on a couple of XP machines and on a 2K -- no errors. (One of the XP machines currently has GTK installed on it, so I don't know how that affects things...)

Nope

Lots of apps have dropped 95 at this point. I don't think GTK+ works on 95 at all (Gaim, GIMP, etc).
