FF3 RC1 Performance issues

I've loaded FF3RC1 on my usb drive and the performance is terribly slow. Has anyone had this happen, if so how did you fix it?

FF3 RC2 is equally bad

Decided to install FF3 RC2 since I kept hearing how much faster FF3 was over FF2. That has not been my experience AT ALL. I've turned off the cache, but it's still painfully slow.

Is it just me (and the previous poster)? Is there something else that should be tuned?

TIA!

Few Things

Firefox 3 is much more resource intensive on the drive than Firefox 2. In a local install, it winds up faster (when run from a hard drive) in terms of end user experience. In a portable install on a flash drive, it can be noticeably slower than Firefox 2 if you don't have a fast drive.

The ways to improve performance remain the same:
https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#performance

The biggest things you can do is disable the anti-phishing filter and the session restore. Both are used more heavily in Firefox 3 than Firefox 2 and will cause more writes to your drive. When writing to a slow drive, Firefox can pause.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Did all the suggested

Did all the suggested changes, and it made a noticable difference on my USB drive, although it's still noticably slower than 2 was, it's not "tear my hair out" slower. Then installed on my local machine and copied over my profile (which is how I keep my stuff backed up and in sync), and was amazed at how fast FF3 is on the local drive. I guess it's time for me to start paying attention to the write speeds for USB sticks and to see if I can find a fast 8GB stick that isn't too expensive.

And then this morning I did

And then this morning I did my normal comics read - open 25 tabs at once, and then read through them. Only half an hour later half the tabs STILL weren't finished opening. Any chance of getting a Portable Opera?

Along with what John

Along with what John said....I run all my Portable Apps from a WD Passport USB drive and FF3 is MUCH faster than FF2 was.
