FFP refuses to open weblinks

os: windows xp pro + sp2 - FFP 2.0.0.14, used on my pc (as default browser)

if I try to open a weblink on my desktop like

by double click I get the error message "the protocol http is not associated with any registered program" although I DID associate the weblink-type with PPC in the windows filetype list.

if I open the link via right click context menu I get a poor reduced google page with the local address

'FILE:///D:/BOUND-INSTANCES/DESKTOP/GOOGLE.URL'.

IE on the contrary simply opens 'http://www.google.de' as ever in its full beauty... - any suggestions what is going wrong with FFP? thanks so much - wadi

How did you associate

How did you associate weblinks to FirefoxPortable???
Not sure about PPC, could you spell it out.

Generally you don't associate weblinks with Firefoxportable.
If you do you use one of the so far unofficial apps in the forums. Is this what you mean?

no, I did not use any

no, I did not use any unofficial apps for associating the weblink type with FFP but made it as usual in windows: file options

That's the problem,

That's the problem, that doesn't work with Firefox Portable [or at least breaks the portability]
Someone else will have to point you in the right direction as I will just mess you up I'm sure.

thanks, I'll try without

thanks, I'll try without this. (additionally a correction: above I'd accidentally written "%1%", but what I've done was "%1"). - wadi

well, I've deleted FFP,

well, I've deleted FFP, intensively cleaned the registry and newly installed FFP. now, indeed, it opens weblinks as usual.

but what is not amusing instead is that every time I'm requested to choose FFP from the windows program list. checking the checkbox for FFP in the list has no effect. (originally this led me trying to associate htm etc. with FFP as customed in windows - which seems to be erroneous.)

my question now: is this standard for FFP or can I avoid it? - thanks for your help - wadi

solution - no longer trouble

additionally to the problem posted before (demand for choosing explicitly firefox) I recognized that in thunderbird links are not opened in FFP - this above all, top bothersome - would FFP be really good for me? so I began googling for the latter issue and got an useful hint.

here is what I tried and what was fully succsessful: FFP should YET associated with a file type, especially with the http-protocol. looking for that in the windows filetype list (new
