It might be possible,

It might be possible, however, adding context menu entries requires modifying the registry, which is a non-portable behavior.

Yeah, your right. I guess i

Yeah, your right. I guess i will just have to install the non-portable version for this one.

It would be nice if when you enable it in the options it just wrote the necessary entries to the registry.

If you do enable it, it

If you do enable it, it should write the changes, it just makes it non-portable then because it modifies the registry and creates a direct link to the program

It doesn't load the context menus after reboot either.

Adding Portable WinMerge To Context Menu

In case someone bumps into this thread via a search engine, as I did, adding a WinMerge shortcut to your "SendTo" folder ("C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo") is a reasonable workaround to the above problem. Simply open the folder that contains your WinMergePortable.exe, right-click on the file and "Create shortcut", rename the shortcut as you see fit, then cut-and-paste the shortcut into your "SentTo" folder. To access your "SendTo" folder you need to unhide hidden files and folders first by opening "My Computer", then left-clicking on "Tools" in the Menu Bar, then left-clicking on "Folder Options", then left-clicking on "View", then scrolling down the list and and ticking "Show hidden files, folders, and drives". Now, when highlighting any set of files or folders for comparison in WinMerge, simply right-click on the highlighted files-folders and scroll down the list to "Send to" and select whatever you named the shortcut you created for WinMergePortable.exe.
