So I found a neat little program called QuickRun (http://www.partridgesoft.com/quickrun/). It lets you create your own little start menu and system tray. I was mainly looking for a program to group my portable system tray icons together.
Anyways, on to my problem. I am working on a launcher for the program because it leaves a couple registry entries behind. The problem is that when QuickRun is run it creates it's own "system tray" and then the process stops running, but the program still functions. Therefore the launcher cleans up everything too soon and the settings aren't saved. Does anybody know what is going on here and why the process seems to disappear? Or maybe a better question, is there an OSS program that will do the same things?
Thanks
QuickRun.exe is just a launcher. The main code is located in QuickRun.dll, which is a shell extension and therefore it's executed by explorer.exe. It's buggy and doesn't unload itself when you ask it to exit, so it's practically impossible to check when it quits. Also, you won't be able to "safely" remove your pendrive. Expect Explorer crashes when brutally unplugging it.
Well, I think you should look for another program.

This is the best program I could find. I'm not necessarily looking for a start menu, I'm just looking for a way to keep the tray icons for apps on my flash drive out of the system tray and it's registry entries. I've looked for another program that does this, but this was the best I could find.
