Is it possible for the installer to use the directory it's in (ie. the directory it was downloaded to) for the install directory if it doesn't find a PortableApps drive? This is what it use to do before (7-zip extractor) it got 'smart' (NSIS).
This shouldn't be too hard to implement, and it would help me tremendously.
It's that way on purpose so that less-experienced users don't accidentally install it to their desktop.
It's primarily designed to work with the PortableApps.com Platform and auto-detect where it's supposed to go even when you launch it directly. As long as you have a PortableApps directory in the root directory of a drive on your system, it'll find it.
You can download one and install it to the same directory as before, but that's a far secondary choice.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
It can be done easily, but most people don't install to the current directory. I think if there setup is like:
X:\PortableSoftware\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable
It will force them to find out where they are really s'posed to install to. Just my view.
Thanks for explaining. John, can you lock this?
