I have been using Thunderbird for U3 on my flash drive for some time and I love it. Suddenly it won't start. I get the message "Runs Thunderbird from a U3 device has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are very sorry for the inconvenience." I have uninstalled and re-installed and I get the same thing. Any suggestions??
Thanks!
Bobbie
Is the U3 Thunderbird version still actually at 1.5? We dropped support for U3 a while ago as John Haller (Firefox, Thunderbird, and OpenOffice.org creator for U3) was having some problems or something with them. They've since been updating Firefox and I believe removed some of John's copyright while using his code.
I highly suggest switching the the PortableApps.com Platform, but if anything, grab the latest Thunderbird Portable package from here, install it anywhere on your drive and then use SmithTech's Shortcut Creator 4U3.
This site no longer supports Thunderbird for U3 or the Firefox U3 packages. John T. Haller, this site's creator, made the initial packages for U3, but they removed all acknowledgements that it was his work, and continued updating the packages on their own. It is recommended that you upgrade to use the TunderbirdPortable package on this site. I can't find it right now, but I've seen instructions on transferring your TBU3 profile settings and mail accounts to TBP.
Edit: I'm too slow

I found the Thunderbird Portable version and downloaded and installed it. When I tried to start the application I am getting the same message that I received with the U3 app.

Did you launch it from the U3 menu? If so, it's still the U3 version.
