Would it be okay if I take over Scribus Portable?
I know I'll need it in 6th grade with the 'Museum' master project and all that.

I don't think so
It would be inappropriate
Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
that would clearly be wrong and us other mods would not be happy.

In response to the above two comments:
We all know Ryan wouldn't do that. I think powerjuce was just proving a point to the comment above.
This site is dedicated to Open Source software. Almost all of this is software developed elsewhere by others, right?
I think it's great that developers adopt a particular piece of software to portablize it. Ryan has put in a lot of hard work on a lot of software.
But Portable Scribus has never made it to the release stage, and it's not even on the test release page. I searched for it, and it seems to be still in version 1.3.3.9, while the official version is 1.3.3.11.
If Ryan is actively working on the newer version, great, he should let digitxp know.
If not, and Scribus is a low priority on a long list of projects for Ryan, then I don't see why he wouldn't let digitxp (who clearly places a high priority on it) contribute.

Courteousness would be my first response
Ryan has been working on it and would like to pick it up again.
He said I'll come back and write a better answer later
We should give him the opportunity to do so.
I would not say this was an "exclusive 'dibs'" on a project.
If he can't bring it to completion of course someone else could pick it up.
Casey/digitxp, asked permission, which I think was proper and correct.
Ryan would rather he didn't (at least at this time) and will give reasons why.
This at least promotes:

If not

Gotta love that sig file,

To another "portable" Scribus.
I'm not sure if it is up to PortableApps standards - it's obviously not in the PortableApps paf.exe format - but it has the latest version of Scribus.
I've been using it, and it seems OK.

Here's my full answer:
I do actually plan on keeping this as one of my top priority apps. I haven't had much time for anything the past few weeks, with assignments and exams keeping me busy. I will get around to it at some point definitely.

Scribus 1.3.3.13 (stable) was recently released (today as I write). Any progress with the portable version. Something later than 1.3.3.9 Pre-release 2 would be nice.
