What I meant was with this version of ubuntu you can install it from inside windows without needing to repartition the HD at all. It will install inside windows while wit is running. When the comp is rebooted it allows the option to run windows or ubuntu. its just a handy way to install/trial ubuntu without having to mess up your windows install.

install ubuntu as application. You need to use wubi. If you did the installation you describe, you have installed wubi and wubi did install the virtual drive environment for ubuntu.
OK, it is something between full virtual machine and full install. It reminds me somehow of the BEOS installations, which were run just by clicking an icon in windows. Here however the mbr of the windows partition is modified in such way that it calls up either the loader of windows or executes the chain of the virtual machine loader and initial ramdisk which is then deleted later again.
The whole thing is more of a live system then real installation, but allows more functions.
I've created a portable version here, with some enhacements of the software downloadable here.
Now, the PA.com Format is fully respected, and the portable edition I've made includes graphical downloaders for the different Linux distributions, and a menu with all the options this software offers.
I think I found a bug. I started downloading the kubuntu package and stopped it when I was about 15% in. When I went to resume the download an entirely new package was being downloaded.
I planned in make a GUI for Linux Launcher. But how to do it? Only I can make it in Flash or HTML because I don't know nothing about code programming (C, C++ and others), just MS-DOS, Flash and HTML. Leave your comment here!
there are some payware programs which can make a menu for this in EXE format, but i dont think there are any trial versions out..8·( I think too that it would be better to do it in HTML, but it will ask to download the file when clicking the link & even if the browser allows you to run it it will be copied to the temp folder. so, if you know how to make a DOS window with a listing of all the linuxes in the folder with a number, & that when the number is written & enter/intro is pressed it finishes the correspondant process...

Unfortunalety, I have to close again the software until summer or before, because the school starts again. But always that I have a little time free, I will work for the software. New version is coming soon.
will I have to have one drive with the linux version and another for my xp one.
it would be great if i could launch my apps in both platforms from the same drive.
Wine can run the windows lancher but i have noticed some apps will have faults.
Also how does the Linux app work. if i have to set it up and run it like most linux programs. then i will need admin rights how do I get around it.

the quemu is in the folder and the linux distros are started by a bat file , from their original iso images. So there no quemu included in the distros, but it is started and then the ditro iso mounted.
apropriate *.bat file , e.g. Launch DSL .bat will start the DamnSmallLinux etc. If the iso is not found, it will even try to locate it on the download server and then run it. Just follow the menus on the screen.

Download :Linux Launcher Portable 1.0.4 Beta
A new version of Kubuntu is avairable. Does anyone have any problem if I update it?
Actual: 8.04.1
New: 8.10
Also, other Linux are updated (DSL & PuppyLinux)
No one should have a problem. If they do, they should keep using the older version that they saved on their end (hint, hint).

No. Linux Launcher makes 1 Virtual HD, so if you install any Linux Live CD Distro in the HDD, it will write the OS in that Virtual HD.
