Portable Firefox 3 RC2 Performance Issues

To echo other commenters, I find FF3 RC2 much slower than FF2. I have a pretty fast USB flash drive, based on what I've read. It's the Patriot Xporter XT. FF2 (2.0.0.14) runs lickety-split. FF3 RC2 runs like a dog through molasses. Disk caching is turned off. Pipelining turned on. No saving of passwords. Fewer add-ons than I have on FF2.

I have not turned off remembering history and form fields. How much resources and disk accesses do those consume?

I've noticed with FF3 RC2 is that the activity light on my USB drive continues to flash even when I'm not doing anything -- and this is hours later after it should have downloaded the phishing data. Should it be doing this?

Other Comments

In the other threads that have fully discussed this you'll see the same advice stated in each of them. You need to disable session saving. It's clearly outlined here:
https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#performance

And you may wish to disable antiphishing as well. FF3 is much more resource intensive than FF2. It's better from an end-user perspective on a local drive. But much slower on an average flash drive.

Turning off things like saved passwords has no effect on speed.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Tab Mix Plus

Why cannot tab mix plus be installed in Portable Firefox 3 RC2? Tab mix plus really important but unfortunately can't add to Portable Firefox 3 RC2. Is there any way to do it?

PApps does not control

PApps does not control anything regarding extension compatibility or portability.

I'm going to guess that's your issue, so you'll want to head to the TMP forum and grab the latest dev build of TMP that works in FF3.
