Evening all,
I'm still trying to troubleshoot this issue, but thought I would pass along a heads-up.
Last week I purchased a PQI i810 mini I-Stick (2GB capacity), but have noticed that when accessing files and/or programs off of it I am running into weird delays... just enough to be annoying. I initially noticed it while installing/running the PortableApps menu system onto the drive (the first thing I did with it after formatting), and it hasn't gotten any better. I've already copied my current suite installation onto a different flash drive (made by IOmega), and it is not displaying the same symptoms that the PQI i810 drive is.
I am personally thinking (uneducated guess here) that it is related to the new micro form-factor I/O setup that they are using. Still in the process of trying to get hold of someone in personal over there to ask, however.
Update: Have noticed that when exiting programs (specifically Coolplayer+, Firefox, and GIMP) they are still continuing to show up in the Windows Task Manager, requiring me to manually kill the processes before removing the drive. Not all the time, but most of them.
I must say that I have used the same stick (also the 2GB model) with PortableApps (not Coolplayer+, but Firefox and GIMP and several other apps) and have never noticed the problems you are talking about. Of course, it is certainly not the fastest stick around.
