Everytime I download Gimp_Portable, irrespective of which version or which download source, I get a corrupt file. This, by doing the standard left click on appropriate download button on whichever site. I have tried through different browsers, for whatever effect that might have. Download stalls about 85% complete, then dies. I have downloaded and installed a new PortableApps platform. I have no problems with downloading anything else.

so the regular manager may not work as well
if you are using firefox i suggest you try DownThemAll (although that may not work with FFP)
or
you could also try something like Flash Get
or
try Free Download Manager
Finally make sure that the only place you are downloading from is here and after it downloads use the MD5 (7e77a899b6288198bc1ea96497383fdd) and compare it using this program WinMD5Sum
if the two numbers match the download is correct

I have installed FDM, gone to the page you indicate, and I get this link to copy into FDM:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/portableapps/GIMP_Portable_2.4.6.paf.exe
When I download that file I get a 23kb file: downloading.php.
I have a cable connection and generally have no problem downloading very large files. 18mb is nothing.
that's cause of how sourcefourge handles files when u click on that link it hands a .php to your browser that allows it to select a mirror
that's why i use DownThemAll it is built into FF and only gets the link once the mirror has been resolved

try setting your link to this instead:

the reason you get an incorrect download with the firs is because, as hunted hawk said, sourceforge (our hosting site) uses a general download link that automatically selects a specific location to download from.

Same problem. Download hangs at 95%.
If you try and download to the flash drive directly it may not work as well, try directly downloading to your computer rather than your flashdrive
if nothing else go to a friends house and download there
