When I try to run an open office app I get a message telling me that configuration.xcu is corrupt. You can choose to continue and not load the files but it will fail to load the program. I have even downloaded the portable openoffice by itself and still have the same error. I am running windows xp. Problem happens no matter if it is installed to a thumbdrive or the hard drive.
Ideas? Suggestions?

This can occur if your path is too long or has odd characters in it. OpenOffice.org itself has issues with both of these situations. So if you have multiple subdirectories or dollar signs or other weird characters, you can run into this issue.
Try just installing it to X:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable which is where it's supposed to be installed. That should work.
