Portable GIS anybody??

As a forrestry management student we work alot with different GIS systems, so it would be very handy to have one portable to work with on PC who don't have any GIS app running, so if anybody would now a good GIS app wich could be made (or is) portable.

Tnx

GIS(pops)

I myself have run projects on a thumbdrive, the important thing is to allow variable paths if it is on the same school network. Then it can usually find the maps in question. If not you need to save all the project onto the stick. The main problem in addition to memory would be the required processing power of the PC in question. You couldn't just stick it into any old computer. That, though is beyond making it portable.

There is an open source GIS called GRASS(pops).
