Trying to Choose a New USB

My mom said she'll buy me a new flash at the end of the month and I just can't choose which. Here's my list:

  • 4 GB Capacity
  • Under $20
  • Write Speed faster than 10 MB/s (don't care about read)
  • No cap to lose (chained, slide out, swivel, whatever!)
  • Not flimsy (duh!)

I would've chose that PNY Attache XLR8 but OMG it's a whopping 50 dollars! here is what I have so far. If anyone that knows of another flash that meets specs, please post.

Using a Kingston

Personally I am using a Kingston DataTraveler with 2Gb, although there are 4Gb versions. I spent around 15€/25$ but now it should be cheaper. Unfortunately it has an cap that is easily losable (I too like more of the no cap to lose option).

Unfortunately I am no expert so I can't help you much more.

Just one thing: DON'T BUY A CnMemory FLASH DRIVE!!!!

Blue is everything.

Not a good brand

I made the mistake of buying a CnMemory for its cheapness, and it was slow, easily corrupted files and was SLOW, and had an weak cap that broke instantly.

Blue is everything.

What?

I am saying for you not to buy the CnMemory brands because the one I bought (CnMemory Core) had 3.5Mb/s write. Now that's slow!

Got a link for it on Amazon. The CnMemory on the page is just like my old pen. DON'T BUY IT! See how the cap is fragile. (And I didn't buy it trough Amazon btw)

try a sandisk cruzer micro on

try a sandisk cruzer micro
on sale you can get them for anywhere between 14 and 28$
not sure oh the exact speed but I think the write speed is 9mb/s

if your willing to pay a bit more there is the platinum version of that which runs from about 25 to 50$ and has speeds much higher.

no cap on either 1, and they hold up very nicely (until you drop a 30 pound computer on 1 gig cruzer like I did, broke the case but It still worked!)

Lead, Follow, or get out of the way.

I would say the Corsair flash

I would say the Corsair flash on newegg for $20- 4gb and that includes shipping.

Then go to the store and pick up some heavy thread and a needle, then run the thread through the cap and tie it to the loop at the other end of the flash drive. Put a few drops of supper glue on the cap with the thread going through it. Viola!
