iPhone Theme Beta 5 (Testers And Modifiers Needed!) Updated July 24, 2008

I've made an iphone theme here's the link for the download but u need the XrX Portable Apps mod (Keep Reading for more information)

Preview here: http://www.freewebs.com/leogx/iphonethemeportableapp.htm

All the .exe packages are safe to use i can promise you there is no spyware, ad aware, viruses, and rootkits.. i made the .exe packages for easy installation

Note: in both installers u have to change "(DRIVE LETTER HERE)" to the drive letter
where Portableapps is installed to

Link For XrX Portable Apps Mod download: http://www.box.net/shared/stevoonk8k

Link for iphone Beta 5 download: http://www.box.net/shared/5vnwt0ug4g

Ex. (DRIVE LETTER HERE) Beee
Changes to: G:\
But my drive letter might be different.
to find your drive letter open my computer and its next to the name of your drive.

If You need a preview on how to use the installer packages go here: http://www.freewebs.com/leogx/installthemes.htm

to install the mod u have to first download it (link Above), run the installer,
change the "(DRIVE LETTER HERE)" to your drive letter, click install

To install iphone theme u have to first download it (link Above), run the installer, change the "(DRIVE LETTER HERE)" to your drive letter, click install

I Have fixed the white problem thanks to MrElchbau

if u have any ideas on how to make this better comment here
I've made the installers simpler to use

If u want previous versions just comment and i will reply with the link

Argh!

1. Why is the download an .exe file?
2. I will NOT run a beta .exe installer, especially from an unknown source.
3. Extracted using Uniextract 1.5
4. It made subdirs: \PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu\Data\Theme\iPhone Theme\etc...
5. I moved the iPhone Theme folder (and below) over to my real Theme folder.
6. Ran PortableApps.
7. Selected iPhone Theme.
8. Immediate error: Addess violation at address 7C912C16 in module ntdll.dll. Write of address 00404D41.
9. Your theme came up, with incorrect colors and menu entries.
10. Quit PortableApps menu.
11. Restart PortableApps menu.
12. Error again. Even more visual stuff is strange.
13. Was able to change theme back to something that works.
14. Restarted PortableApps menu.
15. All category data is gone. All programs are in the same place, as if this is not a mod menu.
16. Quit PortableApps menu.
17. Write this message.
18. Restore from a Toucan backup. Let's see if that works.
Edit: Yes it worked!

Why installer.exe for a theme?

I am not comfortable using an installer.exe for something as simple as sticking a theme in the right place. I am fully capable of installing a theme for a Portable Apps Menu Mod myself.

I am also not comfortable blindly downloading a menu program from some free hosting service you happen to use. Why don't you give a link to the program on the XrX site or the PTC site?

Thanks, but no thanks. I don't need this.

Chage this!

Hello leogx!
There are some errors in your theme. Here some tips:
1. In your theme.ini replace the custom-button section with this:
[CustomButtons]
0=eject

[eject]
Height=34
Width=34
Left=237
Top=350
OnCLick=CustomImageExitClick
PathToApp={THEME}\EjectScript.exe
icon={THEME}\eject.png

That will fix the error at startup.

2. To get non-squared icons change:
[AppButtons]
TransparentColorR=555
TransparentColorG=555
TransparentColorB=555

to

[AppButtons]
TransparentColorR=255
TransparentColorG=255
TransparentColorB=255

3. Use a lighter color for the folders, eg 150. You can't read them.
[MenuButtons]
FontColorR=150
FontColorG=150
FontColorB=150

[OpenMenuButtons]
FontColorR=150
FontColorG=150
FontColorB=150

4. Perhaps you should change your SubItemOffset from -110 to 10:
[MenuButtons]
SubItemOffset=10

5. Your pics should have the size you set in the ini: 504x280!
the background.jpg could be a ghost image, max.copression, one color, it will never be shown.
Try this:
http://c.imagehost.org/0168/Background.jpg
and this:
http://c.imagehost.org/download/0839/Background_Top.bmp

6. Try to use a triangle (perspective) ground for your buttons, ad a light mirror effect like in the pic above. It will really looks smarter!

That's all for today. And remember: if you got any questions, you will find my email in my personal info.

Greetings,
MrE

Button Placement and Menu Compatibility

The button placement is off in the theme.ini
I think MrE covered that in his post.
Isn't this theme also compatible with SmithTech Menu and geek.menu?

Naturally

- arrange the buttons along a line or curve
- change the first and the last icon to iphone-looks-like square buttons
- put the scroll-up arrow into the display

Beta 5

Beta 5 is available the installer will overwrite the old iPhone theme files if u want to keep the old iPhone and have the new iPhone theme rename the old iPhone Theme folder To some other name like "iPhone Theme OLD"
