We all know the standard plain pendrives or USB-HDD's. Long time I wasn't aware that there are other useful features are available and I think other people to. This thread is to show and to discuss pendrives and USB-HDD's with advanced "unusually" features.
- hardware based encryption - https://www.ironkey.com/
- U3 - http://www.u3.com/
- CD-ROM partition - http://www.udrw.com/en/tech/index.php
- USB-FDD emulation - http://www.netac.com/products_show/storage_ods.htm
- USB-ZIP emulation - http://www.netac.com/products_show/storage_u320.htm
- USB-CDROM emulation - http://www.netac.com/products_show/storage_u320.htm
- 2.5" USB enclosure (internal SATA II, two interfaces - external eSATA + USB 2.0, doesn't need external power adapter, USB-powered, faster then pendrive, nearly as handy as pendrives) - http://www.hdd-enclosure.com/2.5-esata-hdd-enclosure.html
Anything else you could recommend me?
Certain portable hard drives offer USB hubs and/or memory card readers. This can be handy to clear pictures off of a camera, or copy pictures from someone else's camera (like at a wedding), or other stuff. I probably wouldn't base my entire purchase decision on this feature, but it is something to consider anyway...

That's indeed also an interesting feature.

It's a USB SATA hard-drive dock...with a built in media player and the regular red, white, yellow, svideo outputs. It can play MPEG-1/2/4, XviD, Divx 3.11/4.x/5.x video formats and MP3, WMA, and WAV audio. Pretty nice for $84.
Edit:
And another...

A flash drive with video playing ability to plug to your TV.
In fact, this site http://www.everythingusb.com has a lot of weird usb devices.

Sandisk discontinued USBTV and shutdown their associated content service.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Too bad, the device was interesting
unit. I've got two, one for each laptop that I have and it works great. A little bigger than a regular usb unit, plus a cable and small antenna.
Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.
- I got a micro SD card with a very minimal USB adapter. Put those together and you got a USB flash disk smaller than a regular SD card. Storage is limited to capacity of micro SD card.
- I also got an ebay flash drive sold as 4GB but actually only 2GB. I found the production tool that allows: multiple partitions, also password protected. Each partition is seen as a separate removable drive. I also can change the usb ID and other information. And also change the size to have windows detect is as a Tera byte size. Utterly useless but fun with a fake ebay flash drive nonetheless.
- Maxtor onetouch, click button on drive to start backup. Supports drive encryption but I found out its just using TrueCrypt
- Fingerprint protected drives. Sadly I have an older version.. I should upgrade. It uses a cd like partition and I used to autostart PAM after unlocking. Sadly my version needs admin rights and the newer one doesn't. But its a fun toy anyway. (Well if you can look past the root-kit'ish way of hiding the unlock software, see the Sony fingerprint rootkit controversy - same software...
