PDFTK Builder update to 3.5.3 - Pre-Release 2

Application: PDFTK Builder
Category: Office

Download PDFTK Builder Portable 3.5.3 Pre-Release 2 [2.6MB download / 3.1 MB installed]
(MD5: 87803685d156e911fc23777ec00833ef)

Release Notes:
Prerelease 2 (2008-07-28):

  • Updated to Johns latest installer and ini handling
  • I improved the ini so now you can change the exe and its folder

Development Test 1 (2008-07-19): Initial release

Whats new:
This release includes a Bugfix: Layout problems when Large Fonts were selected in Windows OS settings.
And it uses the updated installer for better space calculation and easier translatability.

@John:
I think its ready for release. I just posted it as a per-release cause I thought this would be the fastest way of shipping the App to you Smile
The redirect you did is wrong ant pointing to an empty page.

Very cool. I love this

Very cool. I love this program. I use it CONSTANTLY and I've never had any problems whatsoever, even with very large blueprints and drawings. Thanks for your work on it.

@John

One thing im not sure about:
Is it best for the installer to delete the whole App folder or is it sufficient to let it overwrite things?
I think I saw some installers delete the whole thing before installing so I wanted to ask.

I'd say

only if there are significant changes in the file system.
Usually it just overwrites.

Depends

What you need to ensure is that, say, a version 2.0 of an app installed over a version 1.0 of an app has the EXACT same App contents of a 2.0 virgin install. In some apps, this is most easily accomplished by deleting the full App directory before installing. In others, you pick and choose what to delete (look at the installers for Firefox and OpenOffice.org). In these, WinMerge is your friend.

You need to make sure, of course, to preserve user content like plugins and things when doing upgrades. For example, Firefox's plugins within App\firefox\plugins or additional brushes in GIMP.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

File name

Please change the file name of the download file to PDFTK_Builder_Portable_3.5.3_Pre-Release_1.paf.exe.
It's not yet the release version Wink

BTW: Please update the installer to the actual version (0.9.9.8).

Keep up the good work!

Re

I know. But it could have been the release version Smile
Now I will do a prerelease 2 with the new installer.

updated

to DevTest 2. Now the ini has more features and it uses Johns latest installer and Launcher based on the latest Notepad++ release.

works well with Vista

I've just tested development test 2 on Vista Ultimate SP1, and it works well and leaves nothing behind
