How can I open TB Portable from USB-Stick on Linux (EeePC)? And how can I transfer my TB portable to the EeePC?

Can anyone help me?

I'm not a PC professional so I would be grateful for any easy step-by-step advise.

I finally found the folder manager on the EeePC - is it possible that it doesn't work because e.g. the thunderbird address book on the PC has the ending ".xpt" and the TB portable on my USB stick ".mab"

I really appreciate any advise!

Wine

In order to run Windows applications like those included in the PortableApps.com Suite, you need to have Wine installed on your Linux laptop. This is easy in something like Ubuntu. But EEEPC's Xandros Linux is more complicated. The only instructions I found are in French (translated to English automatically).

I'd say ask in the Xandros or EEE PC forums around on getting Wine running would be your best bet. Once Wine is installed, you'll want to get it associated with EXE files so you can just double-click on StartPortableApps.exe (or ThunderbirdPortable.exe) and have it work.

German instructions

Maybe these German instructions are useful for the original poster, as he seems to be German.

try using Synaptic and find

try using Synaptic and find Wine in the list.

But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
