How did you update the U3 version? u3.com says the current version is 1.5.0.0. I tried to install it, just to see, after I read your post. It told me I had to uninstall first....
So I uninstalled my installed version and tried again, and it told me it was installing 1.5.0.0. If you have a later version, please tell me where you got it.
John, is the u3 software available at portableapps.com, or just at u3.com? I haven't been able to find it here.
If the u3 version is always going to lag behind the "portable" version, I think I might just switch. Since I do have PStart autostarting with my U3 drive, I'm not sure there is any advantage to using the u3 version (except perhaps the installation size).
Go to Help, Check for Updates. Let firefox update itself.
I had issues going from 1.5.0 to 1.5.0.1 so I don't know if it will be the same when you go to 1.5.0.2. It may fail and want to do a full update which is OK also.
I am not sure about PFF from this site, and I don't know if it would be any different from the U3 version by John.
I use the U3 and it updated just fine last night.

Portable Firefox 1.5.0.1 updated just fine with the partial update. It completely escapes me as to why 1.5 -> 1.5.0.1 didn't work.

I just let the auto-update occur.
Go to Help, Check for Updates. Let firefox update itself.

Try it though.

Thank you!
I had no idea you could do that with U3 software, but it seems to have worked flawlessly--going from 1.5.0 to 1.5.0.2.
Thanks for the education.
Keith
Both Portable Firefox and my package of Firefox for U3 both support in-place automatic upgrades via Mozilla's update system.
