Updating to Firefox 3

I have searched for this but couldn't find the answer I need. So if it has been posted before - my apologies.

The questions - I'm running on FFP2.0.0.16:

1. Do I update by simply downloading the FFP3 file and installing it on top of FFP2 and it will get all my settings/profile/etc. from the old version or I'll have to manually remove FFP2, then install FFP3, then do all my settings again?

2. If I don't like FFP3 can I switch back to FFP2 without losing my settings, profile, etc.?

Thank you.

Well...
  1. Yes. Just install FFP3 over your old one. But I'd do a backup first just in case.
  2. I haven't tested it but I think you cant just go back cause the installer or firefox itself would have to redo all the changes FF3 did (new storage system for bookmarks, cookies and such) and I know it doesn't do that

I would treat FFP2 and FFP3 as two separate entities...

And just install FFP3 as a new folder and then copy the /data/profile folder from FFP2 to FFP3. All of my stuff worked except for about 12 of my 45 extensions. The bookmarks were fine, the cookies were fine (the Cookie Culler extension works fine), and so do the helper applications like VLC Portable, the PDF Portable, etc.

I installed FFP3 directly on

I installed FFP3 directly on top of FFP2 (after making a backup of course) and it all worked like a charm... only the extensions had to be updated. Thanks!
