I can’t even count the number of requests I’ve had to create a Portable Firefox 3 from the latest Beta version that was released. There has been at least a few dozen requests, and I try to do my best explaining how users can create their own version of Portable Firefox.
The developer of the app has released Portable Firefox 3 Beta 1, and it is yours for the taking. All you have to do is download, extract/install it, and you’ll be playing with Firefox 3 Beta 1. You also don’t have to worry about messing up your existing Firefox profile since it is all self-contained in the single Portable Firefox folder.
Some of you may want to run it side-by-side with your stable version of Firefox, and that is possible with one little tweak. In the FirefoxPortable folder navigate to Other\Source\FirefoxPortable.ini and copy or move that file into the root directory where the FirefoxPortable.exe file is. Then open the FirefoxPortable.ini file in a text editor such as Notepad, and edit the following line:
AllowMultipleInstances=false
to
AllowMultipleInstances=true
If you don’t want the splash screen either change:
DisableSplashScreen=false
to
DisableSplashScreen=true
That’s all there is to it! If you don’t see the changes then the odds are pretty good that it’s because the FirefoxPortable.ini is not in the same directory where FirefoxPortable.exe is located.
Dude? :confused:
