It would be very nice if we could have a small app we can run in the system tray that checks for updates to all the apps that we currently have on our USB drives from portableapps.com. It would also be nice if it would notify us of any new apps that are released as well.
I've been addicted to portable apps lately andi'm constantly checking here for new stuff, so it would be nice to have something that could just tell me when new apps are released or updated Im sure some of you other members here feel the same way.
Seeing as it can be implemented in about 4-5 lines of code.
I will whip a quick one up in the morning.

How about John just makes an RSS feed (if he hasn't already?) With RSS, it's pointless to program something like this.
Check out the available feeds here:
https://portableapps.com/feeds
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I noticed those feeds earlier, but I still think it would be nice to have a notifier to run in the system tray that would pop up a notice when there was an update. Im not much of an "rss feed" person
if there`s an NSIS feed to parse RSS. Otherwise I`ll have to do it differently.

The live bookmark is present already in the Portable Firefox distribution.
Bookmarks -> Bookmark Toolbar Folder -> Portable Apps News
It will show when new apps or new versions of apps are available.
Vintage!
Exactly. Kinda makes a notification app redundant. One extra click on a button to check for new apps is really no big deal.
some people like their tray icons
Anyway, I'll have a release soon. I was already doing this for pre-pre-pre-alphas of START tht haven't been released.

Very cool. thank you It will be very useful.
It just downloads an ini and checks the versions.
I`m just doing the gui.
I may even do a C++ version If you`re lucky.
