portable player for swf

Hi Guys,

I have tons of swf files. I know how to play them and/or convert them
I have all needed to play them on XP and all. That is not a problem...
... but I have to give those written to MP3-palyer or USB Stick
The "destination computer" have nothing and people there don't understand a thing about PC.
I explained to them how to use portable VLC and/or Mplayer
Problem is that VLC don't play swf and Mplayer plays them in "fastest motion possible" Smile

Any suggestions for portable flash player, capable of playing back SWFs?

Thanks in advance

Adobe does have a standalone

Adobe does have a standalone flash player which gives a result similar to using a projector. However, it still makes changes to the host computer.

I use a browser ...

Since all the swf's that I got were from websites, and they played on websites, I set them to open up on my ffp.

Though a standalone player would be good. I remember when I was looking for free programs that would take swf games from websites, they would also play, but I don't recall which ones. Maybe that is something someone can portabalize.

Or are swf games a special case and it wouldn't work for the type of files you are running?

Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.

Not portable...

But I can recommend the Adobe Media Player. It plays FLVs, SWFs, and most everything else. If you don't need portable, that's the way to go.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for replies.

As I said I do know "a lil bit" Smile about the stuff and how to play/convert /Adobe & stuff.

...and the reason was - I do need Portable indeed for people who "duno nothing" about PC and I would prefer the Software don't do any changes on someone's computers.

I have many alternative players. Media Player Classic (MPC) plays those perfectly...with embedded controls and all. Would be nice to have portable MPC.

I'll have a look... I've seen something in the past
I'll report here when ...but other advices appreciated

My regards

Okay.

I know Zach Thibeau did a Media Player Classic Portable a while ago. Hopefully that works for you.

If anyone wants Adobe's

If anyone wants Adobe's standalone flash player, download the "Windows Flash Player 9 Projector content debugger" from this page or use this direct link.
A launcher for it would be great. I'm currently using a bat file converted to an exe and I don't have the original script.

gnash

if the swf files are videos, you can use Gnash (open source flash player). I can even make it prompt for the file to open so you don't have to use the command line. it doesn't work well at all with games though. so are they videos or interactive?

Thanks for replies,

Thanks for replies, Guys.

First I would stay away from Adobe one especially with particular version. Ther could be problems with updating due to new version with security patches and so on.

The one suggested by jeff works fine.
Then I found that one I mentioned That I couldn't recall.
http://www.vector-ski.ru/vecs/arflashplayer.htm

Works fine too. Grab the one in arflashplayer.zip
arflashplayer_full.zip has Macromedia Shockwave Flash™ 7 component. I don't think it's necessary.
If translation needed I can help, but readme is in English.
What is interesting about this one - the Guy developed the first version way before flash was known and in addition he had a security in mind too. You can just drag & drop those exes with swf offered out there...Those may contain... you know what Smile So this player will just exrtact/rip swf from exe, which is not executed. Then you can save swf only and delete the exe.

Thanks Travis, those are not interactive, so I'll have a look
at Gnash.
As for launchers, that would be good to have them.
As a matter of fact there was some beta menu as I remember. It was accepting *.exe on Options/Install... I cannot find that one currently here. Why that feature not present in stable Menu?

Cheers

Media Player Classic

I was having problems with VLC -- it wouldn't play SWF or some .movs or mpegs (apparently it has forgotten how to play older codecs?). I installed Media Player Classic 6.4 (a single file install, I believe) and -- voila! -- it played all those types. I've since got rid of VLC except for portable although I suppose MP Classic would work portably too. I was surprised it was so capable. Plus the playlist window is way better than the crappy VLC interface (do they TRY to be ugly and hide features?).
