PC NO SOUND?!?! HELP!!!!

going into sound properties and selecting different sound hardware? in XP i know you can right click on the sound icon in the system tray and select adjust audio properties. then you would go to the Audio tab and select your input and playback hardware to REALTEK or whatever it was before the reinstall.

the other thing you can do is go into device manager and see if the drivers for the sound card you are trying to use are working properly or are eve installed.

(I have no idea how to do any of this in vista)

PC has no sound

I just installed Windows Vista SP1, and I no longer have sound.

I had a piano hooked up on the microphone jack before reinstalling Vista, but after the reinstall it no longer works.

I also had my speakers plugged on a black jack on the back of the computer and it worked, but now it does not play sound.

Well, I am just kidding, don't be mad with me. But next time, please make the thread easier on the eyes, so people can actually understand it.

My advice is for you to reinstall the sound drivers that came with your computer.

Also, some Acer computers come with a special sound card separated from motherboard, if you had your stuff plugged in there, check if vista stopped identifying it, and plug it to the motherboard.

Or, if the reverse, try putting the stuff on the dedicated sound card. And see if it works.

It appears that your computer has set the default speakers to be its digital-out port. So, you'll need to change it back to your Realtek speakers.

Go to the Control Panel. Then go to Hardware and Sound, and click on Sound. Make sure you've set your Realtek audio device as your default device. Hopefully that should help. If it doesn't show the Realtek audio, then try defaulting another device. Play around with it a bit.
