Hello,
Starting back a year or so ago, using GAIM portable, I cannot go to invisible mode and chat on msn with anyone. If I type to someone online or offline on msn, I get an error message saying *not allowed while invisible* Using a yahoo account however, allows me to send/receive online/offline messages while in invisible mode.
I downloaded and am using pidgin portable now, and the same thing applies. I can send/receive offline/online messages via yahoo, but not using msn acct.
Is this normal? Any work around?
I'm pretty sure that's a current limitation of Pidgin. However, in the next release (2.5), they have the MSN protocol updated to v 14 I believe, which will support sending and receiving off line messages, which I would assume would bypass this problem as well. I think they'll have the new version out in less than a month.
Excellent, thank you for the quick reply -s-
It's possible that Yahoo's service allows you to send invisible and MSN's doesn't. Does the regular Windows Live Messenger program let you send while invisible?
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Yeah, as I remember, it does. I think it's currently a limitation of Pidgin for some reason to do with offline messaging (though sounds kinda unrelated).
This IS a limitation with the API that pidgin is currently using with MSN. This will be updated (like was mentioned above AFAIK) in v2.5. You can IM people who are offline in WLM.
