Leaving a trail behind on work pc, PStart doent use PA Wrapper right? also questions about menu layout

alright so I used PStart and another program to replace the PA menu, but PA wouldn't let me, which I understand, i'm a programmer and I know they need their PA icon all over everything, but in general using any other launcher doesn't use the PA wrapper and leaves a trail correct?

Also is it me or you cant create menu groups on the PA menu it just lists all apps right?

Finally is there anyway to skin your PApps w/o losing the wrapper? I tried to replace the default one but it came out wrong as it wouldent run the theme.ini file

thanks guys,
I love PA I almost have 0 apps (besides games) installed on my home pc

The PA menu can be replaced

The PA menu can be replaced but you'll have to edit a hidden file called Autorun.inf at the root of your drive.

You can use another program for launching apps, but make sure that you point it to each application's individual wrapper which always ends in -Portable.exe (FirefoxPortable.exe for example). Do not launch the program file in the /App/ folder.

There's an unofficial mod of the original menu available here. There are also a features list for it here and an installation guide here.
It is based on the original menu but includes some of the missing features you pointed out.

Just ask if you have any more questions.

Thanks for clearning that up, just 1 more question

so basically any portable app you install/create, as long as you launch the portable exe file not the original(if it even has one, FF3) then your using the wrapper and are good to go, and when you close that app it prolly launches another process to clean up after itself.

If you pull out the usb drive while a program is open it most likely wont clean up after itself right? assuming it doesn't hit an exception?

yes

normally, the Launcher keeps running until the program closes and cleans up afterwards.

Yes. Things will be likely left behind if you yank the drive without safely ejecting it first.

Did you use the portable Apps Creator to make you App portable?
