Portable Yadabyte Notes

Yadabyte Notes is a pretty innovative take on note taking that’s aimed at "Getting Things Done" practitioners but can be used by anyone.

Features:

  1. Fully portable - including the single notes file which can be opened in any browser.
  2. Open note format - We use HTML as the format but then parse this internally for the extra features.
  3. Perpetual - every note records its history. Reuse, don’t delete.
  4. Find/Filter Navigation - we think this kind of navigation is the future of content browsing and searching. It’s very intuitive and, as far as we know, isn’t used anywhere else, yet. Even with a million notes, Find/Filter will allow you to navigate them in the fastest most natural way.
  5. Ideal for: Note collection, "stuff" collation, Todoques, Next Action lists, book writing, scratch pads, freeform contacts management and much more...

GTD Practitioners or the curious, please give us your feedback.

Yadabyte notes can be downloaded from:

Thanks.

Cute!

Really a nice program! Small and ingenious! Was looking for something of the sort, and feel it's the beginning of a great friendship (or so) Wink

Ok, you wanted feedback, here we go:

- I found your website very slow (maybe a bad day today?)

- was also looking for a forum to post my comments - only here then?

- how can you launch an URL in the standard (or even better: PFF) browser? Only found the workaround to copy the address from the properties. Would suggest a right-click menu item for this.

- deleting a note leaves an empty one, which won't take any content

- how about the possibility to manage notes from the list view? Sort-order or deletion (right-click again)?

Pls take these comments as the constructive critics they intend to be, and keep up the good work!

Chris

Always on the move - love all portable apps!

Thanks for the comments:) -

Thanks for the comments:)

Hummm... we have just moved over to a new ISP that has unlimited everything so it shouldn’t be slow. Ill have someone look into it.

You can always email notes at yadabyte.com or mat at yaabyte.com, happy to have email dialog on this:)We do have plans for a forum eventually.

Yes, this is a problem that is in the fix list.

- deleting a note leaves an empty one, which won't take any content

Humm, by delete do you mean clear. Clearing a note will send the contents into the note history and you can then reuse the note. There is no way to delete a note.

We have had 20+ people using YB Notes in the office for a while... its interesting to see how people use it. Some have just 5 notes, clearing constantly, others (like me) have zillions of note:)

- how about the possibility to manage notes from the list view? Sort-order or deletion (right-click again)?

Yes, again on the dev list and we are going to make the list view integrate with Find/Filter.

Thanks Chris, and if you would like to get more involved do email me:)

Best
Mat
