I have done a search without success. Is there a portable version 1 available for download? I have the current version but I want version 1 for an old laptop that has limited memory (it runs in half the memory of version 3).

It doesn't conform to the current PortableApps.com Format specs. And the 1.x release is limited in terms of functionality in many file formats. For word processing, you'd actually be far better off with AbiWord. Why don't you give it a try?
