Using SyncToy to backup memory sticks

Hi.

Is there a way of using ms SyncToy to backup my memory stick? I know how to launch a "folder pair" from the command line and have PStart run that as an option, but my memory stick changes drive letter (obviously) so is there any way of passing the drive letter to sync from into SyncToy?

I know it's worded badly, but you probably get the drift...

Thanks.

Andrew.

Just a batch file

I don't use Pstart, but you could surely just point it at a batch file on the memory stick to copy everything. By using relative path references for the source files and absolute paths for the destination (i.e. C:\MyStick) the changing drive letter wouldn't matter.

I use SyncToy too, and have found that - among other gripes - the Echo feature (for perfect shadow backups) doesn't remove empty folders if you delete or move a whole folder - it "renames" the contents but leaves a mess of directories.

So I wouldn't recommend SyncToy (v 1.2.0.75) until they iron it out a bit more Smile
