My usage of "Portable Applications" has increase. I started with few now I use some more... including Toucan (Version 2.0), just for crypting. I don't use Backup and Sync now. Maybe one day
I encrypted some data with Toucan using the internal folder-tree. I tested decrypting the data in the same way. The data were (now) not crypted I used drag and drop to move them into the toucan window. The files appeared in the list, but as I pressed "OK" I got a error message. It said I haven't filled out every thing necessary. Well, I did every thing exactly as before, but with drag and drop it does not work.
Can anyone confirm that? I'm on XP SP3.
EDIT: How to reproduce? Move some files per drag and drop (with the mouse) into the toucan window with the crypting tap opened. Select encrypt and try to encrypt them.
Thanks
Another thing (maybe this requires a new thread) is that Toucan delete files (or overwrites them) while crypting. Could there be an option to keep the files? It would be possible to check if the process has been successful. Then you can delete the files manually. (I would use Eraser Portable to do that) I don't know how Toucan deletes data. I don't know if it's safe. If it's just deleted it can be recovered. I would like to keep care of it on my own.
Thanks
I think I know why this could be happening I shall have it fixed in the next version.
As for your other question someone else asked that recently too, you can read the answer here: https://portableapps.com/node/15116
Thanks for the link.
So it's confirmed. The really good thing is that you seem to know what the problem is.
Although the file is overwritten I think it's not the best thing to trust. (Just for me) I duplicate a file before I encrypt a file. Not that I don't trust toucan. Just to be on the safe side when something goes wrong.
Maybe I should use 7zip (I already use it) for encrypting data. It supports AES-256. I guess it's as good as toucan for encrypting. Thank you.
