The Bookmarks file

Where exactly does FFP store bookmarks?
I have "Bookmarks.html" files in several locations in my portable folder.
Namely in:
FirefoxPortable\Data\profile
FirefoxPortable\App\DefaultData\profile
FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\defaults\profile

The funny thing is, that even if I delete all these .html files, FFP still remembers my bookmarks!

I'd like to have a single bookmark file so that I easily can sync my FFP bookmarks to my FF bookmarks on my home computer (I use another program, Toucan, for syncing).

The places.sqlite file seems to be storing bookmarks... What exactly is this file for?

Just found info on how FF 3 handles Bookmarks. I wasn't aware that the Bookmarks.html have become redundant.
