Is there going to be a .17 portable release? I'm using PA FF 2.x on my win 98 box & would really appreciate the security update. I tried manually updating PA FF with the .mar file, but it wouldn't take it (error 6).

I can't say why FFP 2.0.0.17 is taking longer than 3.0.2 even though the non-portables came out the same day.
There was some sort of the delay in the release of FF 2.0.0.17 which was never explained, it was due September 16th, so maybe what ever caused the delay is leading to some problems in making the portable package as well. As it is a security release I'm sure it should be coming soon.

As is the case with most FF security issues the current ones can be mitigated by disabling JavaScript:
Tools->Options->content
or using the NoScript AddOn
