Ok so I know not many people need this app but I think it would be great to have a program that when you click on it hibernates your computer. I know you can just do the shortcut thing but this is intended for people whos admin has blocked the hibernation feature.
You are here
Hibernate
It's not really a good idea since if the admin blocked the feature, you may not be able to log in after hibernation. Or it may be disabled because it doesn't work right (my desktop crashes coming out of hibernation, for instance).
If the hibernation mode is not enabled on the system on which you don't have admin rights, there is no way you can use it. Sorry.
Just run
rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll, SetSuspendState
or
shutdown /h
on Vista.
You can even create a shortcut to it if you want.
first off my cmd prompt is blocked and using that as a shortcut just puts my computer in standby mode
Win+R keys, type it in the magical box that appears
that is most likely disabled too....but wait a couple days, and i'm releasing an open source app that clones the features of the windows Run dialog
Sweet. Any clue if Consule would handle it in this situation?
im not to good at computers wats that mean?
press the Windows key and the R key at the same time. If your system administrator did not block this feature, a little box will show up in the bottom left corner of the screen. type your command in there instead
ya thats blocked too
OMG hibernation was a bad feature..... It shortens the life of your hard drive and fragments it... therefore making you hard drive slower.... Where I work I am told to always disable because of those reasons.... Just my 2 cents :S
