Incremental Updating

Just a small suggestion. I just had a look at the Mods and was impressed with the number of extra features. One thing that became apparent to me is the long long time ut would take incorporate all those new features into the PAM. Especially with new features in the forks likely to be added. Thats why I thought I'd suggest incremental updating. eg. with 1.1 you added the eject script and the personal pic. Just add features incrementally like that.

That way you know each feature is fully integrated correctly and you can maintain that perfectionist work ethic towards the menu.

Status Quo

Although some might have another take on the situation, here is my "Letterman's" Top 10 List:

  1. People have gotten used to saying "Someday it will come"
  2. Others have been using the forks to satisfy their needs, so there is much less pressure to incorporate the features
  3. Supporting categories in the menu is opening up a potential problem area for users
  4. Supporting subdirectories on the drive is ESPECIALLY problematic for noobies and scary for support
  5. Loss of control on the way people use the menu
  6. Loss of automatic menu population is a support issue
  7. Herding cats - trying to get a team of different programmers who have already taken different forks to agree with one idea and successfully implement it
  8. Inertia
  9. Focus is on implementing new applications, not on the menu
  10. People have gotten used to saying "Someday it will come"

If anybody wants to argue with me on any of these points, PLEASE SHOW ME why I'm wrong. I would be happy to be disproved.

I don't want sub-directories...

All I want first up is mouse scrolling, keep it simple OK.

I think

its the focus. You dont have to click the arrow button; its enough to click any free space on the menu.

you forgot one more thing...

WE HAVE LIVES!!
John is doing a lot to keep this site alive!!! So I am not surprised that it takes time for a new release for PAM. Understand that big name companies sometimes take yrs for a different software releases so why should you consider PortableApps.com any different?

But along with that take a look at this (taken from here: https://portableapps.com/node/16654)

The new Platform has been a bit behind schedule (mainly due to hardware and software negotiations) but is shaping up nicely. Alpha 1 will be released on Monday, November 18th...

So please read this stuff, it is posted for a reason.
Wishing you the best
