firefox problem - clicking buttons? Can't log into any sites that require you to click

Recently updated my firefox portable to the newest version. Since then, I cannot log into or do much within the browser that requires me to click a button.

ie: logging into hotmail, or facebook. enter the name and password..then click enter.. and nothing works.

Some questions

Some questions Wildmedic

What version did you upgrade from/to ?
What method did you use to upgrade?
What Addons [extentions] are you using, are they all up to date?

What OS and version are you using? [e.g. Windows XPSP2 etc]

Do you have javascript enabled ?
Are you using any security software/Addons that might block sites, javascript, or cookies? [I think the sites you mentioned need javascript and cookies]

and welcome to PortableApps.com Smile

firefox portable problem

Thanks for the welcome.

I am using Windows 2000 on the workstations at work.

I just did an update on my USB drive to the latest portable apps (from portable apps), and then firefox portable wanted to update .. which it did to 2.0.0.17 within the browser itself.

I can't even use the google search page.. and click the search button with any result.

Java is enabled on these machines.

There is security software on these machines, however they affect IE only. Not firefox.

Previously portable apps has worked flawlessly.

I am not sure if it is

I am not sure if it is related to your problem, but you should never allow portable apps to update themselves. The internal update mechanism of the program is not "portable aware" and can mess things up.

check here to see what I'm talking about:

Again, I don't know if this could be related to your situation.
Note, you don't really need to read the comments and replies as they are more about how and why, and not about how to fix anything [of course if you want to you can still read them, but they wont lead to a solution]

update causes error?

Tim

Thanks for the input. I am not sure if that was the cause or not...but I did try it on another 2 PC's (non-work ones) and it still did not work.

My final resolve last night was to format the usb key and reinstall portable apps. The new install seems to work as flawless as before.

I was unaware of the firefox update issue....thanks again.

Issues with Google log-ins.

I was experiencing issues logging in to my google account. I was getting an error stating that the session was being reset. My IE was working fine. So, I imported my settings from IE, and BAM, FireFox connects fine now.
