There are several reputable portable PIMS. One of them is Essential PIM. It is available for free as either an installed or a portable application. As to whether it will meet your needs, I don't know. It is not Open Source, it is freeware. Another PIM you may want to investigate is Time and Chaos, which may have a portable version and is shareware.
Of course, you can also consider Thunderbird and Sunbird portables available on this site. One serves as the email client & addressbook and the other performs the calendar functions.
Thunderbird also has calender capabilities through the lightning extension.
