Alot of threads I've seen on this board have ended with the general statement "we only support OSS not freeware. Comeback when its OSS."
While this is great for the development and management of the official suite of portableapps, it would be nice to have a handy index of freeware apps that dont have a OSS solution available.
Because of Portable Apps' OSS only policy we could probably host the launchers only and the person packaging the App would have to host it themselves. You would also have to consider the legal implications because all of the apps officially released by this site must be signed by the Owner of PortableApps.com (We call him John) and hosted by him. There are no guarantees that what he did not host and sign are not malicious as they are not hosted by him and can be changed at a moments notice by unscrupulous Hackers. A launcher only release could prevent this as he could demand that he host the launchers and they must be open source. He also can't host closed source applications as he uses SourceForge and everything he releases must be Open Source for SourceForge to accept the applications (With the exception of a few small libraries) so there are monetary reasons also as hosting Packaged Freeware on his own server could cost him hundreds of thousand of dollars.
This might hold you over until they change their mind The Portable Freeware Collection

I would love a SUB FORUM for PAF freeware. E.G FreeComander
Why PAF and not just freeware?
Such forum would be almost empty..

There are few who adhere to the format.
self.path = path if self.path == None else self.path
the forum could be for the launchers, similar to the dev forums but for launchers for the freeware programs, as dark yux said above
OK then how about PAF, Launchers and freeware which is rejected from "Portable Freeware Collection" (E.G command-line apps)
Other wise we will just end up with another "Portable Freeware Collection"
Now that would be *Bad Joke* portless (pointless)
Command line apps...great idea.
support++;
