I've just upgraded to 2.0.2, and noticed toucan when run in a command line now throws up errors if the drive it's being run from is write protected. It's only trying to write to a few ini files, so everything still works, but the message boxes are kind of a deal breaker. Is there any plan to fix this behavior in future versions?
I shall get this fixed in the next version. Thanks for the bug report.
Just FYI, I just installed 2.0.4, and I'm getting the same error messages if I write protect the drive toucan is running from.
be honest I am surprised it works at all, looking at the code Toucan writes the information it is about to write to a file and this is essential for it to run. Thinking about it more I cannot really fix this without big changes and it isn't a high priority for me at the moment.
Well, I tried..
Would it not even be possible to have an option to suppress error dialogs?
Will it be possible for Toucan to save configuration data in a profile, which may be set in a shortcut path, like thunderbird or firefox command "-profile"? This will allow to place toucan on a write-protected drive, and make it easier to backup its configuration data.
add it to the todo list, not especially high priority though, to be honest it would be easier just to copy the whole app the the pc if you can copy the profile, especially with the next release Toucan is hardly a large app!
