Prefered Flash Drive for Portable Apps

I am looking to get a new flash drive. I am looking at least 1GB, but I am open to suggestions.

I am looking for:

1. Reliability
2. Speed
3. Portable App Friendliness (not U3)
4. Capacity
5. Value/Price

I currently own a Lexar 128mb Jumpdrive, and a Geeksquad 512mb U3 (came free with the new laptop I bought 3 months ago)

I am not thrilled with U3 because of the amnount of space it seems to take up on the drive. The U3 system and the profiles it creates take up far too much space.

Any suggestions?

I have one that I used for

I have one that I used for about 3 months before I bought my USB HDD from WD. It's from a company I had heard nothing about: AVB.

It's 1GB, Rubber Coated, Durable, Water Resistant, Has a cool activity light, and is about 3x faster than my old Lexar Jumpdrive 128mb AND Lexar JumpDrive Secure 512mb.

I got it at the bookstore at my college for 60 bucks. I havent used it much so I couldn't tell you about lifespans, but it is fast at reads/writes. Google it for reviews, but it's not bad.

EDIT: As I don't use it for anything other than screwing around with slax I'll give it to you if you cover shipping.

You really don't...

Need to use all caps and underscores in your entire post, as was stated earlier. It's generally considered impolite in forums, and you may rest assured, every post here gets noticed by someone.

I have to agree

In spite of the caps, I have to agree, I've been very pleased with my 1G Cruzer Micro - Nice and tiny, I can keep it on my keychain, functions well, no problems. Keep an eye out, and you can get them pretty cheap too. I got mine for $30 after $20MIR.

I have

A Sandisk Cruzer u3 titanium 2.0 gig (un u3'd though now) Smile

Seems good, it's nice and solid being metal, extremely small, and has the sliding usb tip so no cap to fall off.

I don't know if all flash drives do this, but it does seem to get warm/hot.

I also have a black cruzer micro 4 gig drive on the way (I couldn't get a titanium in 4.0 gig unfortunately)

Crucial Gizmo

In a review i read from PCW, I found out that the Crucal Gizmo (1Gb) is great! The stuff tried all sort of stuff to break it including throwing it off a story high and passing on it by car, and whatdo u know??? All the data still worked correctly!!! The plug in bit (the front bit that goes into the USB) can also go down inside the drive!

Its cool!

I've got a 1 gB SanDisk

I've got a 1 gB SanDisk Cruzer Micro that's been working very well for a month now.

I've also got a 2 gB SanDisk Cruzer Mini that's a bit slower than the Micro - but it's metal case has proven to be poodle-proof (yes, the darned dog really did chew it!) and still works without a hitch
